DISABILITY HANDBOOK

Announcement

A MAJOR NEW CFIDS DISABILITY EVENT, THE PUBLICATION BY MASS. CFIDS/FM OF THE ENTIRELY REVISED (2003), COMPREHENSIVE, AND UPDATED DISABILITY HANDBOOK: HOW TO OBTAIN SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS IF YOU HAVE CFIDS .

Mass. CFIDS/FM is proud to make our new Disability Handbook available to persons with CFIDS (and FM) who are either applying for or are already receiving Social Security Disability or other forms of Disability Insurance. This booklet, last revised in 1994, has been one of the most comprehensive, practical, and helpful disability resources used by many hundreds of CFIDS patients in their successful efforts to obtain disability benefits.

This 2003 revision is doubled in size in order to provide the latest information on the 1999 Social Security Administration CFS Ruling and guidelines; new guidelines for physicians on how to document a CFIDS disability; and appendices on reviews, long-term disability insurance, appeals, and other essential topics.

(Fibromyalgia patients by looking at this booklet will also obtain a better grasp of the disability process.)

The information offered in this booklet is essential for anyone with CFIDS who is applying for Social Security disability benefits. The booklet was written with the assistance of lawyers, doctors, and other disability experts.

We have posted the entire booklet on the website for ease of availability for those with computers. Go to the Products and Publications page [Click Here] of this site and click on the Disability Handbook to view either sectional or the entire contents of the booklet. You might want to start with the Table of Contents.

The information in this booklet is invaluable to those with CFIDS who cannot work and are seeking financial stability. At the present time the booklet is available free from the website. However, if you can afford it, we would appreciate a free will donation of $10 or $20 since we as an organization have expenses we must meet in order to make this booklet available. Go to the donations page [Click Here] to see how to make a donation.

The booklet is also available in paper copy for a price yet to be determined. You can order a copy by going to the Products and Publications page [Click Here], or you can write to us at our mailing address.

As part of the Mass. CFIDS/FM services supplementing this booklet is free consultation with our disability counselor. Again use our e-mail contact [Click Here] to access this service.

Again, we are proud to make this booklet available in order to help those struggling to obtain or keep disability benefits.
